Today the fantastic Sergey Fedoseyev took care of us in the morning and we started the day by visiting an ortopedic clinic. It was a modern facility and Charlotte was all excited about it. The rest of us tagged along, nodding sagely when trying to understand the function of the equipment and feeling awkward when meeting patients undergoing treatment.
Thereafter we visited the Agency of Cultural Activities, an independent institute of the Volgograd Committee of Cultural Affairs. We were given a presentation of the organisation and current projects including contemporary art, cultural heritage and place marketing. I am looking forward to discuss future co-operation.
After lunch we were given the opportunity to make a presentation at the Russian American Center in Volgograd Scientific Library named after Maxim Gorky. The audience was alert and contributed to a good dialogue. Afterwards we had a discussion with the management of the Center and found some interesting possibilities of future co-operation in the field of culture.
A rainy morning had turned into a sunny late afternoon and our great hosts took us on a boat ride on the Volga river. There was an abundance of sunshine, scenic views, good company and beer. What more could one wish for? Well, possibly the invitation to a barbeque and banja (Russian sauna), which we got upon our return to the harbour.
We spend the evening at Oskar's host family who turned hospitality into an art with great food and even better company.
Best Regards,
Christian
