In Perm I met the first assistent to the chief for education in Perm. She informed about the Russian school system and particularly about the organization in Perm. Basically it has a lot in common with our system. The state decides the school law, what to study etc but the city is responsible for organization. Preschool and basic school (1-11 years incl our “gymnasium”) is financed partly by the city for building, infrastructure and by the region for the teaching (teacher salaries).
I also visited a school, School nr 7, which has been a special school for English since the 1960´s. We were guided around in the school by two students in the 10-11 grade who did a very nice and quite professional guiding.
