Today we explored a little of the threshold of Caucasus as we visited Taganrog, which is a pleasant city located at the Sea of Azov.
The city is also the birthplace of the famous Anton Tchekov. First we were given the privilegie of visiting the museum that was once the school of Tchekov. The was a comprehensive and interesting collection of artefacts from the great man in the museum, ranging from his school desk to letters and portraits. Secondly we were allowed to pay tribute to the shop of Tchekov's father that is preserved and is now a museum. On the second floor we could even marvel at the apartment that once housed Tchekov for five years when he was in his impressionable youth. Thirdly, the experience was crowned with the delight of visiting the very house in which Tchekov was born, which is now a very inspiring museum. These museums are a highlight to any visit to Taganrog.
After this we had an excellent lunch together with our hosts from Rostov and friends from the Rotary candidate club of Taganrog. The lunch ended with us doing a presentation of the group study exchange as well as general facts about Sweden.
Following this we were given a sightseeing of the city and a short but pleasant walk at the seaside. Back at the resort we had a dinner and then the night off. Some spent it watching the hockey finals, others slept or had a little stroll in the surroundings.
