Train to the Urals

I could never imagine how big Russia is! Travelling to Perm by train from Moscow takes over 20 hours and we´ve had a lot of time for ourselves today. Except reading books, playing cards and enjoying a wonderful meal (russian meat soup and salmon with fried potatoes), we´ve also prepared our presentation of Sweden.

At one trainstop we had the chance to stretch our legs and noticed that many women were selling teddybears and other stuffed animals at the station. How comes?

After a rather good night sleep, I´ve been looking out the window observing the endless forest and some small villages and bigger cities. The nature looks a lot like home, but the leaves aren´t that green yet and you can even find some snow waiting to melt away.

We are very grateful that Tomas speaks some Russian because we don´t understand anything when the train staff want to talk to us about practical things or ask us to quiet down when we laugh a little bit to loud at night.

In a couple of hours we will arrive to Perm and meet our host families. I´m very excited and actually a little bit nervous. But the guys are (playing?) cool, telling me not to worry about that. Being the only girl in the group is not that bad, if you know how to handle a joke or two.

Best regards

Charlotte
