My first professional visits

Yesterday and today I have had my first individual professional exchange visits, which are also an important part of the GSE program.

Yesterday most of the group visited Sergei Tomasov's company which make plastic packaging for sweets and cakes. He gave us a visit around his factory and told us about his view on management and business strategies. He was a very intellectual person and a true character so it was a very interesting visit.

Today I had two individual professional visits. First we visited a small Perm company which works with traffic modeling and traffic forecasts which they sell to the Perm city administration. The company started as a spin-off from the university. They explained their technology and business models to me and I gave the a short summary of Kapsch, our products and customers.

The second visit was to the operation center of the Perm road administration in which they monitor the conditions of all the roads and dispatches maintenance personnel. I was very impressed by their system and especially by the level of information which they make available for the public. Their webpage gives the status of all roads, ongoing constructions, contact information for a construction companies etc. You can find their webpage here. It was also interesting to see how they had integrated all their geographical data via Google Earth into the operational center which gave the operator a very powerful tool.
