I visited a private orthopaedic clinic where they mostly did minor surgery that didn´t demand hospital care afterwards. It seems like the doctors have the responsibility for the rehabilitation and decides what treatment the patient should have. The assistants take care of the patients and carry through the treatment, daily for two weeks and then twice a week for three months. Only passive methods are used, for example TENS, ultrasound and massage.
In the public clinic they take care of patients that don´t have the possibilities to visit the private clinics. The public clinic also do major surgery like hip- and knee replacements at a cost about 30.000 SEK. The clinic started with this kind of surgeries in the beginning of 2000 and makes about 100 hipreplacements and about 15 kneereplacements a year. The restrictions for the hippatients were different from my experiences: the patient most stay in bed the first three days and then only strain 30% of the bodyweight for some time. They had fysiotherapists that provided exercises, but I didn´t meet anyone at my visit.
Hej charlotte,
ReplyDeleteAnvänder man magneter i någon av sina behandlingar?
Häls Margareta Ingatorp
Nja, i vissa fall. Men det var vanligare med traditionell elektroterapi.
