Summary of Volgograd 12th of May

After an excellent night at my host familys house we started by meeting up at Bamberg at 9AM. We went to a factory that made building blocks, dry mixes and boards of gypsom. A very large and modern factory. Some lines were completely automated. It was a interesting visit and we learnt a lot about Russian building techniques.

We then headed to the Panorama museum, dedicated to the great battle of Stalingrad. The main feature of the museum was the 120 meter long (360 degree panorama) canvas showing the turning point of the battle.

The musem had 8 main halls dedicated to diffrent parts of the battle. All very interesting. After the visit we had a much better understanding why Russians celebrate 9th of May in such a big way.

We had a lovely lunch at La Balcon and then headed to Tatianas studio. She showed us her art witch was fantastic working both with clay and on canvas. Then we headed to the planetarium that were built by German war prisoners. Very nice building and a perfect visit for all the elementary schools in the Volgograd region.

At 9 PM we had to leave Volgograd. Thinking back on our days here the things that made the largest impression on us was all the pepole. Everyone warm welcoming and really took us to their hearts. We leave Volgograd with a lot of new very good friends.
